Trinity Heritage Scenic USFS Byway
Travel Highway 3 through Trinity County and the North Lake area is eligible for State Scenic Highway status.

Muir Route
Highway 3, that passes through North Trinity Lake, is part of the Muir Route.

Come up and share the smell of pine trees, cool summer evenings, a night sky where you can really see the Milky Way, and four seasons of change. And most of all, give yourself a break--take the opportunity to slow down and just enjoy life.

Scott Museum


The Scott Family established this small museum in Trinity Center to preserve the history of the mining, timber, and ranching activities that defined something that we still feel today-- the soul of our North Lake communities.


Water Sports

Nothing establishes life-long memories more than time spent on the water. And, Trinity Lake is the place to build memories. Be a kid, discover Trinity Lake.


Fishing

Trinity Lake is well-known for bass and trout fishing. And, is best known for the California record smallmouth bass in 1976. Dad, take the kids fishing.

Gold panning

The dream of finding a nugget of gold has not faded much since the Gold Rush days. North Trinity Lake is part of California Gold Region 6.


Bowerman Barn

Built in 1878 by Jacob Bowerman, the barn stands today as an outstanding example of a late 19th century hand-crafted structure.

Permits

Trinity Alps Wilderness permits and California Campfire permits are available at the USFS Coffee Creek Fire Station's self service box located outside the main station doors.

The 517,000-acre Trinity Alps Wilderness is the second largest designated wilderness in California and spans three national forest boundaries. Laced with trails, rivers, forests, and peaks, this is one wilderness where you can travel for weeks and never exhaust all the possible trails.
